Alternate Poster to MAYDAY! MAYDAY! because I am weird and agh I wasn’t satisfied with the last one so here it is again so everyone also reblog this because it is to help out, and to convince people to come and enjoy some damn good music.
The biggest Meiday to date, the biggest acts in the country come together to help a sister out. Live art starts at 5pm, gig starts at 6pm—Cambio, Sandwich and Pedicab are opening the gig so don’t be late.
Hidden Secret Information of the day: All the DJ’s and Bands are represented by each of the drawings. YES.
I’M SO EXCITED FOR THIS EPIC EVENT.
This boy Rob Cham never fails to amuse me with his stuff. Yeah i have a fever so come to MEIDAY BSIDE on October 7! I’ve got the biggest bands in OPM helping me out, with confirmed bands like Pupil, UpDharmaDown, TwistedHalo, Ebe Dancel, Sandwich, Pedicab and all the powerhouse Meiday homegrown bands!
The story of why I support Mei and Meiday is that I owe a lot to Meiday. Back when I was a freshman in college, I didn’t really have much of an idea of the gig scene in Manila or any indie scene or anything. I only ever went to gigs that the Ateneo Musician’s Pool (the music organization of Ateneo) had, which I admit were great, but then Meiday was the first time I ever got to see non-college bands and well actual good bands. (Sorry some college bands are just not that good). Think of it like how you never knew good music til you were a teen
Through Meiday I discovered the local bands I love and hold dear today, mainly the Dorques, Ciudad, Arigato Hato!, Halik ni Gringo and Outerhope (hi). I discovered Sputnik through going to Meiday gigs at Cubao X (which I hold dear mainly because I get to find indie comics from local Filipino komikeros and what comics I could never find in Fully Booked or any bookstore), and just eventually met Mei through one of them and I got to do some work for her which helped me get mainly exposure since Meiday is the biggest dang event that I never try to miss and it was all for free. I also got to make a lot of friends, see a lot of good music, and got to have a place to bring dates. (I only ever brought Patrice since well the other girls rejected me.)
So yeah this is sort of the weepy post I was hoping to make since everyone else seemed to be able to say nice things yesterday reblogging and all when all I said was SUPPORT MEI STAYING ALIVE. I still stand by that since well I WANT HER TO LIVE.
So go to the gig and help her out, the person who helped make indie musicians in Manila something everyone can somewhat be easily exposed to. (Think about how many times you never went to a gig because of that door fee.)She’s helped a lot of people (I am one of em) and I want it to sort of continue being like that.
And that’s what I can say about that.
Hi.
